| Music Therapy is the use of music as a tool to meet non-musical therapeutic goals. At CORE Health Care, Music Therapy is used with complementary individualized treatment plans to provide a unique way for the residents to meet their rehabilitation goals. These treatment plans are addressed through the use of traditional Music Therapy and Neurologic Music Therapy.
Traditional Music Therapy addresses goals such as appropriate expression of emotion, coping and social skills. Neurologic Music Therapy is a research-based set of standardized techniques that are used to address neurologic impairments. These techniques focus on areas including gait, coordination, range of motion, strength and endurance, verbal-expression, cognition, attention to task and executive function skills.
The universal language of music and the effects it has on the brain provide an effective therapeutic approach to rehabilitation, and CORE Health Care continues to strive to provide the most modern, cutting-edge Music Therapy services to its residents. |
